About Invisalign
Invisalign is a clear and convenient alternative to traditional braces. The treatment involves wearing a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners. Each aligner is worn for approximately two weeks, gradually shifting your teeth until the desired position is achieved as prescribed by your dentist. Before starting treatment, we’ll create a digital 3D image to show the planned progression and the final result, giving you a clear view of your new smile.
You’ll visit Invisalign every month or two to monitor your progress and receive new aligners. The average treatment time is around a year, though this may vary based on individual needs. Because Invisalign aligners are removable, you can continue to enjoy your favourite foods and maintain regular brushing and flossing to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
If you’re interested in Invisalign or fixed orthodontics and would like to find out if you’re a suitable candidate, please call Invisalign on 08 8387 1733 to arrange a consultation. Our team is here to guide you through your orthodontic journey and help you achieve the smile you’ve always wanted.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign consists of a series of thin, clear plastic aligners. These aligners are manufactured for the individual patient and are based on a scan taken at the beginning of treatment, which allows the orthodontist to map out the specific treatment plan.
The patient changes the aligners to the next set in the series every 2 weeks and this is what creates the movement. The teeth gently move into their desired place at each stage of the treatment.
Why choose Invisalign?
Unlike traditional braces that apply force to the teeth using metal brackets and wires, Invisalign aligners are made of a thin, clear plastic, creating four main benefits:
- Invisalign aligners are cosmetically pleasing.
- Invisalign aligners are more hygienic than traditional metal braces. Invisalign aligners can be removed when eating, brushing and flossing so they make it much easier to maintain good oral hygiene during treatment.
- Invisalign aligners are more comfortable than traditional metal braces. Invisalign is made of clear, thin plastic, rather than metal and wires, this means that it’s not as likely for your gums and mouth to suffer ulcers or abrasions from rubbing against the appliance.
- Invisalign treatment equals less orthodontic appointments. Invisalign doesn’t require adjustments like traditional metal braces do, so therefore you are required to visit our surgery less frequently.

Using and caring for your Invisalign Aligners
- Aligners must be worn 22 out of the 24 hours a day. You may remove only for eating, brushing and flossing.
- Cleaning of the Aligners involves brushing with your toothbrush and the occasional soak in a cleaning solution such as Sterident.
- The removable Aligners can be easily lost, so if you are not wearing them, be sure to keep them safe in the container provided.
- If you lose or break your Aligner, please contact us immediately so that arrangements can be made for a replacement.
- There can be a natural tendency for teeth for move so on completion of treatment the final retainers need to be worn nightly on an ongoing basis.
